A field is where you enter information. Field names — also called field headers — describe what type of information you will be entering into that field, such as names, addresses, or professions. The information you enter in a field is also known as a field’s value.
Address Book Plus provides more than 20 separate fields for you to enter your addresses. All but one of the fields are text fields that can hold up to 255 characters in any combination. The Remarks field can contain up to 2,056 characters. The Address and Remarks fields can contain carriage returns (each carriage return is counted as one character).
By default, the Birthday field is a date field: You can enter only numbers in one of three date formats: mm/dd/yyyy, mm/dd/yy, or mm/dd. (Years are optional.) You can redefine it as a text field from the Data Entry Preferences dialog box available on the Entry menu.
The User Definable field is a text field. You can use the Data Entry Preferences dialog box to redefine it as a date field.
